Saucony Grid 9000 OG

Grid tech came out in 1991 and stands for Ground Reaction Inertia Device. It’s basically a grid of fibers in the midsole that provide cushioning and stability. In 1994 the Grid 9000 would release. This particular retro released alongside a blue and white pair which Saucony dubbed the “premium suede” pack. Elsewhere online, folks mentioned that these are a retro of an OG colorway, although I’ve yet to find photo evidence or any language from Saucony that confirms this

Basic white laces and a basic Saucony box. If you are looking for tons of extras, look elsewhere as this release is basically just the shoes.

This is a great shoe and one that I’ve had for a while but forgot to review! I was able to get them under retail and I’m surprised people slept on them for this long!

How Are The Materials?

These shoes feature some great materials given the $90 price point. The suede used does deliver on the “premium suede” promise, even at the low cost. The suede is soft and does have a backstroke to it. The rest of the shoe is leather, neoprene and mesh. I think my only gripe on the materials is the leather, while it’s soft and seems ok, the shiny finish is not my favorite. I prefer a matte finish, especially on white leather, but this is more of a nitpick than a critique on the quality. Overall you get a good bang for your buck here in terms of materials.

How Do They Fit?

I went with my typical Saucony size of 9.5 on these Saucony Grid 9000 OG and these fit so comfortably! For comparison, I wear a 10 in most Nikes. The first time I got a pair of 9000s, I was surprised at how light the sneaker is given the thick midsole. However the point Grid system is after all to provide comfort and stability/groundfeel.
